How to Stop Time-Wasters Coming from Facebook Lead Generation
Get high-quality leads to your property sales team – even from Facebook
July 2025
Starting July 10, 2025, public Instagram posts from professional accounts will appear in Google search results. This update marks a major shift that bridges social media and search, transforming how property brands connect with potential buyers online.
Your photos, captions, and hashtags won’t just live inside Instagram anymore, they’ll be searchable on Google, opening new doors for discovery and engagement.
Before, Instagram content stayed inside the platform. But now? Your posts can show up right where your future customers are actively searching as part of their research process.
That means your content can reach potential buyers earlier in their journey, when they’re still gathering ideas and dreaming, not just when they’re ready to buy.
Imagine this: someone Googles “family homes in North Yorkshire” or “estate agents in York,” and your Instagram post pops up, showcasing your listings, suburb guides, or behind-the-scenes snaps.
Instead of hoping they’ll visit your Instagram account during their research, you now have the potential to be found directly through their Google search.
Here's what we can expect:
Photos and videos are now searchable on Google:
When someone searches on Google, your Instagram photos and videos can appear in the search results.
Your captions are indexed and read by Google:
Google scans the text you write with your posts (including captions, subtitles, and alt text) to understand what your content is about.
Hashtags act like keywords on Google search:
Hashtags act like keywords that help Google categorise and find your posts when people search related terms.
Think like your customers - use real search phrases in your captions:
Instead of vague captions, write clear descriptions people might actually type into Google. For example:
“Spacious 3-bedroom family home in North Yorkshire with garden” or “Modern apartment near York city centre.”
Add subtitles to your reels: Adding subtitles helps search engines understand your content, making your posts more easily discoverable.
Use specific hashtags (not generic):
Don’t just use broad tags like #property or #homes. Get specific with location or property type hashtags like #YorkEstateAgent or #NorthYorkshireHomes to help your posts show up in targeted searches.
This feature applies only to professional accounts that are set to public.
If you don’t have a professional or public account yet, follow these steps:
Open Instagram → Profile → Menu (three lines) → Settings → Account → Switch to Professional Account (choose Business or Creator).
Then, go to Settings → Privacy → Account Privacy and ensure Private Account is OFF.
If you want to opt out of this feature, you will need to switch your account private or personal.
This is more than just a social update. It’s a whole new way for your business to be found.
If you post about homes, local insights, or interior tips, now’s the time to rethink your captions and hashtags for maximum discoverability.
Start capturing buyers before they even know exactly what they want.
Instagram posts on Google mean more organic traffic, earlier engagement, and better brand visibility for property companies ready to act fast.
Your Instagram content isn’t just scrollable anymore, it’s searchable.
